Macaroni and Cheese

MENU:
Macaroni and Cheese, apple slices, carrot sticks, milk

REVIEW:
You may ask yourself why I bother to post that we ate Mac & Cheese out of a box last night. Last night was my 6 year old's turn to cook dinner. Each of my children gets one night per week where they choose the menu and then cook the dinner. Even though they are only 6 and 8 years old, they have learned about the food pyramid, meal planning, recipes, grocery shopping, sales tax, kitchen safety, price comparison, following directions, reading skills, food labels, etc. I carefully supervise both of them in case they need help. I am teaching them life-skills by allowing them to help in the kitchen. And although they occasionally select fun desserts or more complicated meals, we do eat a lot of frozen pizza and macaroni and cheese. Responsible children are worth such a small sacrifice.

Good idea.
Maybe a children's cookbook is in the works for Christmas? That would give them fun things to make and help you get more than frozen pizza and macncheese.

This link has a bunch of great cookbooks for kids that base the recipes on children's stories.

This link is just one of dozens that have children's recipes online. A great resource.
