BBQ Beef Ribs, Western Beans, cornbread and honey butter, chocolate pudding

Western Beans
4 strips of bacon, diced
1/2 onion diced
1/3 C dry lentils
2 T ketchup
sprinkle garlic salt
two shakes chili powder
1/2 t ground cumin
1/2 t dried red pepper flakes
1 can tomatoes in juice
3 C cooked beans (I used dried black beans, small red beans and great northern beans mixed, soaked and boiled until soft.)
Fry bacon. Add onion and cook until soft. Add remaining ingredients plus 1 C water. Cook for 1 hour until lentils are soft. Add more water during cooking, if necessary.

I got this recipe for free in the mail but then I substituted a few things. I don't like the lentils. They never softened and were rather crunchy. I would leave them out next time. The ribs, on the other hand, were great. When cooking ribs, remember to bake them slowly WITHOUT barbeque sauce. Add the sauce at the last minute and heat thoroughly. If you put it on first then it caramelizes and gets all crusty and gross.
